Build 7: Missing Controls on Form. |

Steve Gill | I opened a form on a project and the controls that were there are gone. They don't show in the project tree either, but the declarations are still in the source code. If I build the project it builds without error.

Tim Young [Elevate Software] Elevate Software, Inc. timyoung@elevatesoft.com | Steve,
Per email: "Thanks – yeah, the controls are gone from the .wbf form file, so whatever the bug was, it wiped out your form controls. All I can say is “Sorry !” and if you see anything resembling this again, please let me know. It’s almost like the form file isn’t being flagged as modified when the source is being saved, but I’ll need to check that and see if I can recreate it. I had one issue in the past similar to this, but it was fixed before the beta was released." If anyone else sees anything resembling this, please let me know. The app was working fine each time I ran it. Then the next time I ran it I got an error message: " Persistent load error (Persistent load error (Persistent load error (ReferenceError: webctrls.edit.element.name' is undefined)))" This happened each time I ran it. So then I close EWB3 and restarted it. When the project opened there were no controls on the form, but the declarations were still in the code. Emailed source code to you. = Steve |

Steve Gill | Hi Tim,
It looks like it's not always saving changes to the form. I created a new project and saved it. I then added some controls and saved it. The .wbs file modified date changed but the .wbf modified date did not. I then closed EWB3 and reopened it and the project. All of the controls were gone from the form but the declarations were still in the .wbf file. = Steve |

Steve Gill | Hi Tim,
Here's some more weirdness. I created a new project and added a TPagePanel to the form, and created some pages. After saving the project I checked the source code and found that there were no control declarations. These issues seem to be intermittent. Please see attached image. = Steve Attachments: Missing Control Declarations.png |

Rob Frye | Hi Steve
Did you install EWB into a directory other than the default one? The reason I'm asking is that I reported a problem where Save and Save All were incorrectly using the directory where EWB was running from (i.e. ...\bin\ewbide\win32) instead of the directory where the project was initially saved. In my case, this would result in an 'OS Error: Access is denied' but if you installed to a directory where the IDE would have write permission, it wouldn't trigger the error. If this seems at all plausible, check in the directory where 'ewbide.exe' was installed to see if there are some of your wbf or wbs files. Rob |

Steve Gill | Hi Rob,
<< Did you install EWB into a directory other than the default one? >> In actual fact I did. I installed it on my D: drive, which is where I install all development software. << The reason I'm asking is that I reported a problem where Save and Save All were incorrectly using the directory where EWB was running from (i.e. ...\bin\ewbide\win32) instead of the directory where the project was initially saved. There were two .wbf files in there from the project I was having problems with. = Steve |
