Jeff Cook Aspect Systems Ltd | I tried to show a colleague this demo:-
http://www.elevatesoft.com:8080/formsubmit/formsubmit.html but get an error on submitting the form ... HTTP Status 404 - /formsubmit (requested resource is not available). Tried the other demos and they seem to work OK. Trying to sell colleague on making EWB our major development tool and errors don't help If I succeed then I'll be making a nuisance of myself on the EWB newsgroups Cheers Jeff -- Jeff Cook Aspect Systems Ltd www.aspect.co.nz |

Tim Young [Elevate Software] Elevate Software, Inc. timyoung@elevatesoft.com | Jeff,
<< but get an error on submitting the form ... HTTP Status 404 - /formsubmit (requested resource is not available). >> I just didn't set up the EWB Web Server to handle the form submittal. By default, the EWB Web Server won't echo back form submittals like the local web server in the IDE. << Trying to sell colleague on making EWB our major development tool and errors don't help >> This example ships with EWB, so if you run it in the IDE the submittal will echo back as expected. If you have any other questions, please let me know. Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |

I'm trying to sell the idea of an internet based system and I'm showing him what can be done. He is also 5 hours drive away so viewing it in the IDE is not an option. He was particularly interested in using voice recognition software for entering stuff into an app and I can't demo that using the form submittal app on the website. Cheers Jeff |

<< Yes, but ... I'm trying to sell the idea of an internet based system and I'm showing him what can be done. He is also 5 hours drive away so viewing it in the IDE is not an option. >> Well, for now you could tell him that form submittals work just fine, it's only an issue with the back-end web server that was missed. The only thing the demo does is have the web server on the other end echo back the form values to the application. That's it. It doesn't actually *do* anything. << He was particularly interested in using voice recognition software for entering stuff into an app and I can't demo that using the form submittal app on the website. >> You can use any of the other demos to demonstrate this. This one, for example: http://www.elevatesoft.com:8080/datasetclient/datasetclient.html allows editing in the grid and the memo control. Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |

Tim Young [Elevate Software] Elevate Software, Inc. timyoung@elevatesoft.com | Jeff,
Almost forgot - you can view the form submittal in action here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Td6lwqnAyw It looks a little different because it's using an older version, but the functionality is the same. Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |
