Hi

I see from the roadmap that there are some ide improvements coming in ver 2.5.  What about the
web server hosting for EWB, is this still on the cards? If so any time frame for this service.

Regards

Yes, the hosting is definitely still on the roadmap.

Our main goals for EWB going forward are:

1) Finish up the new Object Pascal execution engine, so as to allow for fast server-side code execution and debugging in the IDE.  The existing execution engine is good, but not good enough for server-side code execution.

2) Make sure that the EWB Web Server is capable of handling multiple domains, securely (SSL) and efficiently.

3) Add capabilities to the IDE to allow for more traditional front-end web site development.  Imagine just the core WebCore/WebUI/WebHTTP/WebDOM units with a light binding layer for the event handlers for UI elements.  This would allow for more document-oriented projects that could be mixed with full-blown, embedded EWB applications for things like order processing, etc.

4) Add the additional improvements to the IDE to bring it more in line with more modern IDE features.

5) Add additional controls to the component library (treeview, better menus, more flexible list boxes, etc.)

The first three are specifically geared towards allowing us to provide a hosted solution for EWB applications, which is a first-order goal for us.

Godfrey,

It depends upon how fast the other aspects can be completed, but probably by summer, 2017.
