Elevate Web Builder 3 is finally getting close to beta, and I've got a new blog post up about the finalized upgrade pricing:

As mentioned in the blog post, I will be doing a follow-up post shortly with the finalized feature set.  Right now I'm finishing up the final IDE UI changes, along with the server-side RTL, and then it's done.

Hi Tim,

I renewed my EWB subscription back in July 2019 for $159.  Now that I have to pay another $159 for the update, does my subscription still expire in July 2020 or does it restart from the date I purchase the update?

My renewal is set for January 1st, 2020.  Do i hold off and get the upgrade to V3 ?  Otherwise i am basically going to be paying over $300 for the upgrade.

I'd say email sales direct to confirm ( sales@elevatesoft.com ).

There is a good chance 1 year subscription is included though but please
check.

The pricing does seem a little strange to me.  If you have an active subscription you end up paying more.

If I compare software prices today the prices seem to be today at least about 700-1500 per year so the price with or without subscription  is not a problem with EWB3 especially when you get full stack software with server support.

But I would really like that EWB3 would very soon after release concentrate to add support for building PWA (with server support) applications.This would rise EWB3 to the front row in software development without doubt.

That's a very generalised viewpoint.  I don't know what you're comparing but it really depends on the software.  I use Affinity Designer (unrelated to software development) and it costs around $80 - that's nowhere near 700-1500 per year and yet it's one of the leading graphic design packages.  

Also, it may not be a problem for you but it doesn't mean it's not a problem for others.

Software pricing, as with all product pricing, has many dimensions. Affinity can be cheap because they will sell millions, and do. Specialist software cannot achieve that sort of volume, so must spread the cost over fewer customers. I suspect the true cost per customer is probably many thousands of dollars, but as with any product, you have to price to what the market will bear.

WebBuilder is specialist software, and for most of us, will save a lot of time and effort making web sites. That productivity is worth a lot to most of us. The delay might make us feel it is more expensive, but we have had support and maintenance updates in that period too. The equation for any one of us customers will vary, but it comes down to whether you think this is a product that deserves to continue to be viable for you.

There is a tool I use that does LINQ debugging. It has an annual cost, and for me is well worth the money as I use it all the time. But a colleague doesn't code as much, and it isn't worth it for him. But he has other tools that he pays for that I don't. You simply have to judge if it meets your needs for the money. In the scheme of things, WebBuilder is cheap for what you get. Whether it has enough value for "you" is another matter.
