I personally think the subscription yearly model works for Baron Software for the moment.

I would support a higher subscription that will enrich the product. Looking into the competition I find EWB to be the right tool to support.

As I wrote in a previous post I totally agree the yearly subscription fees could be doubled to make sure there is consistent work and especially on the client side.

How do we proceed? Send Tim an email or wait for him to comment and acknowledge?

Best regards

I concur.  It is most definitely a great tool!

I don't know who all needs server improvements so constructing an email might still be a little challenging.  I built a server using eSeGeCe Websocket so I could have websocket support.  I haven't investigated how this can be done with the new server so I'm still unsure.  So in EWB's current state I only need the client side to blossom as mentioned in the first post (HTML Rich Editor component, etc.)

Keeping both EWB and EDB higher yearly subscriptions current is too costly for me which is why I asked about a monthly service model.  However, I could probably work a higher yearly cost for EWB into my budget.

I haven't upgraded Delphi from XE2.  I've been hoping to make it with EWB so I could get the latest release of Delphi and EDB but haven't met that goal yet.

I don't know the best way to proceed.  He has always been great about returning emails.  I'll go and read the other product forums to see if I can get a better idea.

Thank you!

Best regards,
Allen

I probably should add that I had to let my EDB subscription expire.  I am disabled and having Delphi, EWB, and EDB has helped in my recovery going thru my own storm.  They have been life savers.

However, The cost of entry has pretty much always been high for Delphi, third party, etc.

I would like to help Tim as much as possible but the most I can afford is $80 a month until I figure out how to grow or supplement my income.

If anyone has any ideas, please post them.  I've often thought we needed a jobs forum or website for EWB and maybe even Delphi projects.

Thank you!

Best regards,
Allen

Hehehe.  I use to be like that with Clipper and Delphi.  I'm still trying to get there with EWB.  I'm all for double!  But let's please try to figure out how to include EDB.

I much prefer it over the free stuff!

Thank you!

I'd like to get three server side enhancements:

- A mini IDE, only with the stuff to admin the server (add/delete roles and users, import settings...), with the ability to store and import a "server migration config" from file.

- Ability to set the "dataset command" while opening a dataset. Means: you can have "Select" and "SelectFiltered" and whatever suits you. Would need a new property in TDataset.

- Option to call server defined APIs / apps without EWB authentication. That would make EWB a great tool to write REST APIs you can secure with shared secrets or whatever you want.

Other than that, I am fine. Oh, the editor sucks, sorry. At least indent after hitting return should work, also shift-ctrl-c. That could cut typing by half.

Sometimes later: Linux version of the server. Selling pure Windows server stuff is hard. Yes, I know, I can use something else in the background, but hoestly I don't have the time to write even more code

Yay.

I just reminded me of the saying "put your money where your mouth is". There is a very simple way to support Tim and this way-too-cheap and way-too-good product, eg. by paying double: I ordered a second license.

I don't say that this is the right way for everyone, but maybe worth a thought.
