Why  colums without index on database don't search.

I use this code:

function buscar(valor,campo:string; tabla:tdataset):boolean;
begin
  with tabla do
  begin
     Columns[campo].SortDirection:=sdAscending;
     SortCaseInsensitive:=True;
     Sort;
     tabla.InitFind;
     tabla.COLUMNS[campo].AsString:=valor;
     if tabla.Find(False{NearestMatch},True{CaseInsensitive}) then
     begin
        Result:=True;
     end
     else
        Result:=False;
   end;
end;

Only result true on index colums.

I'm not seeing this here - case-insensitive searches seem to work just fine.

Can you send me a small project that reproduces the issue ?
