With the Component Navigator Tree I can reorder components but is it possible to drag and drop a component so that it becomes the child of another component?

If I hold down <shift> or <alt> it just changes the order, and if I hold down <ctrl> I get an AV:

"Access violation at address 740F0146 in module 'comctl32.dll'. Read of address 00000004"

I'm guessing this is not possible.

Tim, would this be something you could add?

Thanks.

Selecting the component(s) in the tree then using right-click > cut followed by right-click > paste I think achieves what you want to do.  Drag n drop would be a nice enhancement, though.

This should work, so I will check this out and get back to you.

Steve,

Okay, I looked into this.  I couldn't remember if I allowed drag and drop to a different parent control, and I did not not.  Cut/paste is the solution for now.

However, I just tried what you described and could not get anything bad to happen, so if you have any more details, please let me know.  Also, do you see a red slash/circle icon when you try to drag and drop outside of the current control ?

I *will* see about fixing this so that it is allowed. I also noticed that selecting multiple controls to move doesn't move them all correctly, so I think that it's only trying to move one of the controls.

Thanks,

It's weird.  Now I get the error with <shift> instead of <ctrl>.

I only get the red slash/circle icon if I try dragging over to the form design area.

Steve,

I managed to get it to happen now (I also cannot get the Ctrl key version to do the same).  I was unclear about when you were pressing the Shift key - if I press the Shift key while trying to drag, then I get the ComCtl error.  I will make sure that this is fixed.

Thanks,
