Hi Tim,

As there's less than 3 weeks left until Christmas, do you think there's a chance EWB3 will be released by then, or do you think we might be looking at maybe January/February?

No pressure. Just wanting to get a general idea.

Thanks.

I think I'm going to make it by Christmas/end of the month, but I have to get over this remote debugger hurdle.  The remote debugger is just a small, but tricky, set of code that mixes sync/async HTTP requests, multiple threads, etc. and a bunch of other things that require a lot of review.  I'm (hopefully) finishing it up this weekend, and then I can release a client-only beta.  I have a couple of client-side items to clean up/review before doing so, so that's why the client-side beta is waiting on something server-side.  I at least want the server-side debugging to be functional in the IDE so that everyone can play around with it.  That will leave only the expansion of the server-side RTL to complete for release.

Thanks Tim, I really appreciate the update.  It's good to hear how things are progressing, even if it's not always good news.

The remote debugger sounds complex and probably way beyond my skills.  Hope it goes well.

Steve,

It's just some crazy state permutations that make it so hard.  Typical debuggers work locally, and the fact that it has to work remotely adds some additional states that need to be handled properly through disconnects, timeouts, etc.  For example, the debugger could be stopped *before* the server-side application actually sends a response, so the debugger (in the web server) needs to know that a response wasn't sent yet and should be sent so that the IDE knows to consider the application request complete.

But, having said all that: I finally got it completely working this morning. Smile

So, I'm on to finishing up a bunch of little UI items in the IDE and completing a rudimentary level of server-side RTL support, and then I can release the beta.  It will be after Christmas (Uli was right, I was wrong), but shouldn't be much longer.

Sound good.  Looking forward to it.  Thank you for the update!

I don't know how long the beta testing will run for but I'm predicting a final release around March/April. Smile

Have a great Christmas!!

Hi Tim,

I don't know about anyone else but I'm keen to know how things with EWB3 are going.  It's been almost 2 months since the last update.

Is there any good news on the horizon <he asks with fingers crossed>? Smile
