# 2965 Remote Encryption Password Not Being Set Properly in ElevateDB ODBC Driver

Using EDB DAC C/S 2.02 B10 w/updated EDBM in C/S setting.

I’m having a bit of trouble accessing encrypted EDB databases with the ODBC driver. I know that the EDB’s driver UI does not allow me to enter the encryption password, but this should not prevent me from just setting the right value in the registry.

To confirm that the ODBC driver is working overall, I was able to have Excel load data from an unencrypted database.

After carefully updating that ODBC.INI registry setting to include the right database, port, encrypted flag and encryption password, and having the server up and ready, my same test in Excel continually prompts for the credentials. I of course have both the username and password in that registry node. This is a System DSN.

Comments Comments
The ODBC connection manager was not setting the remote encryption password from the registry, so the default encryption password was always used instead.
