# 3785 FTP Deployment Functionality Not Using Passive Mode

Earlier I mentioned that I couldn't get your FTP function to work, but that I didn't care too much because I got Coffee Cup's FTP function to send the files OK.

Now I would like to solve this one. You suggested that maybe the problem was with my CSS file being sent in the THEMES directory. I've now taken directories out of the picture everywhere they existed, and I'm still not having any luck. The error code is 12002, which is a timeout.

I had mentioned that the HTML file is transferring OK, but that isn't quite right...it's creating a zero-bytes entry. So none of the transfers were really done. But I know that it is finding it's way to the right destination because of that HTML entry. My password is OK, because I tried messing it up, and the test connection wouldn't work.

The problem was the EWB IDE not using passive mode for the FTP, which would encounter issues if a firewall was blocking the required FTP data port.
