Internal Applications

Elevate Software uses DBISAM in a very large internal customer sales and support application that covers all areas of our business. This covers functionality such as sales tracking and reporting, distributor accounting, customer notifications, automated web site build system, automated installation build system, automated help file generation system, and much more. It encompasses more than 80 tables containing more than 2.2 gigabytes of data. Much of the data is concurrently accessed by internal personnel as well as visitors to our web site (see below).

In addition, Elevate Software uses DBISAM with all of it's custom multi-threaded Internet servers, including HTTP, NNTP, SMTP, and POP3 servers. Our HTTP and NNTP servers are particularly high-traffic. The NNTP (news) server's message base is more than 1 gig in size and contains more than 99,000 messages. It averages more than 42 messages per day and contains every message posted since January 1st of the year 2000. The HTTP (web) server uses many ISAPI web applications that access DBISAM tables in many different ways. For example, our web-based newsgroups (available here) concurrently access the news server's message base in order to allow our customers the option of posting and reading support messages via a normal newsreader or via a web browser. All new message postings are reflected in real time both ways.
