Logins and administrative options |

"J. B. Ferguson" | Hey Tim,
I don't know if this is WAD or not however I found that if the "Login" tab contains an administrator login (either the default administrator or a user with administrator role privileges) the administrative tasking capabilities (i.e., Create a new database, create a new table, edit a database, etc.) are visible. However, if I delete the "Login" tab information and login when connecting the session, these administrative tasks are not visible. It does not matter what administrative user logs in (even the default Administrator user) the options just aren't there. Is this working as designed or a possible flaw? Thanks... -- Regards, Jan Ferguson |

"J. B. Ferguson" | Tim,
Upon further testing I stand corrected on this statement. Due to network settings at my office, it appears it worked slightly different than my programming office at home. While it is still true that I *cannot* create a new database if I log in interactively (i.e., not on the Login tab) I find that I can do most everything else (i.e., create new tables, migrate, drop a database, etc.) However, it does not show me the database privileges for the logged in user while with the login tab filled in, it does show the database privileges. Not a really big deal but I wanted to point out my discovery. -- Regards, Jan Ferguson J. B. "J. B. Ferguson" | Hi Tim,
That was my point...maybe I did explain it well enough. It does not show the dialog or allow me to change any permissions in that situation namely if I log in interactively (i.e., not on the Login tab). When I click on the combo box, it is empty even though there are three users (Admin, myself and "testuser"). -- Regards, Jan Ferguson Tim Young [Elevate Software] wrote: <<Jan, << <<<< While it is still true that I cannot create a new database if I <<<<log in interactively (i.e., not on the Login tab) I find that I can <<<<do most everything else (i.e., create new tables, migrate, drop a <<<<database, etc.) However, it does not show me the database <<<<privileges for the logged in user while with the login tab filled <<<<in, it does show the database privileges. >> << <<Members of the Administrators role don't see their effective rights <<like non-admin users. "J. B. Ferguson" | I sure will. In fact, I will create a Camtasia video and place it on
the web so you can watch as I do it. I should get it done later tonight. -- Regards, Jan Ferguson Tim Young [Elevate Software] wrote: <<Jan, << <<<< That was my point...maybe I did explain it well enough. We've had it for a while, but I haven't had time to complete a product tour video that I've been working on. Hopefully soon I'll have it done. -- Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |

<< URL of the video sent to you via private email. I hope it helps... >> Very much so, thanks. Please see my response via email. For everyone else - Jan is correct. The bug occurs when you leave the User Name blank in the session options in the EDB Manager. -- Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |
