Is there a reason why the selected columns is reset to blank after changing the type from Primary Key to Foreign Key (apart from xenophobia that is)?

Well, it's doubtful that you want any primary key columns to be the same as
foreign key columns.

But that's also what happens if I go and set the columns THEN switch from primary to foreign key - which I've been doing a lot
