Roy Lambert NLH Associates Team Elevate | In one of the future releases could you change the behaviour when things like the engines config path are changed and its active from simply telling you and wiping out your change to either stopping you entering data into the property to start with or offering (and doing) to deactivate the component, make the change and reactivate it?
Please? Roy Lambert |

<< In one of the future releases could you change the behaviour when things like the engines config path are changed and its active from simply telling you and wiping out your change to either stopping you entering data into the property to start with or offering (and doing) to deactivate the component, make the change and reactivate it? >> That really won't help - it will still cause every attached database and/or table to be deactivated. Unless you're asking that we save the entire state of the engine and then restore it afterwards. In which case my answer would be that such a change is not probably worth the effort. DBISAM had the same issue with changing a database directory, session remote address, etc. There are just certain properties that can't be changed while the component containing them is active. -- Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |

OK I accept that position - how about preventing me from trying to make a change eg bring the error message up as soon as I start typing into the property? Roy Lambert |

<< OK I accept that position - how about preventing me from trying to make a change eg bring the error message up as soon as I start typing into the property? >> Unfortunately I can't affect this. It's just the way the object inspector works. It doesn't try to actually assign the property until you try to exit it in the inspector. -- Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |

Jason Lee | So, you've actually asked your lawyer if you could put in a big hand
that comes out and slaps users when they get something wrong? Can I get that source code, I don't have a lawyer :-P Regards, Jason Lee Tim Young [Elevate Software] wrote: > << Hmmm, in that case as a final request can you design in a big hand that > comes out and slaps me when I get it wrong - I'm sure I'll soon learn then > No can do - our lawyer says that's a big no-no. |
