ElevateDB Web Access |

Howard Sanderson | I finally got my program ported from DBISAM to ElevateDB and it works just fine. Most
database operations run (much) faster on EDB than DBISAM in my application. Today I managed to access my EDB database across the web. I installed the server in my home (DSL, 600K uplink, 3Meg downlink, Vista machine), and accessed the server from my daughter's home (same DSL speeds, XP machine). Everything works fine, but is tens or hundreds of times slower than access across a local area network. I have not yet taken the time to see where the holdup is. I tried compressions from 0 to 9 with no difference. I imagine a T1 connection would help, or hosting on someone's optimized web server? Does anyone have experience or comments which might help me out? |

The latter will be very slow over a DSL connection, and we normally recommend that you always use the EDB Server and remote sessions for any remote connectivity over a WAN. -- Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |
