Thread ADO.NET provider

On this page of the web site...

http://www.elevatesoft.com/edb_prodinfo.htm

....it mentions a ADO.NET provider.  Although I have never seen one available
anywhere, from time to time I do see people mention they are using one.

Does this really exist?  Is it an Elevate-created item?

I am a licensee of DBISAM and ElevateDB both for VCL C/S source.  How would
I get this provider?

Thanks.

It is still in development, and was supposed to be released this week.
However, it's obviously a little late right now due to some issues with the
Visual Studio design-time environment, but it looks like I can get something
out by this weekend.

Actually, the ADO.NET data provider will be made available as part of the
EDB-DAC product line that includes the ODBC driver also.

Hi Tim,

Just a further question about the EDB ADO.NET provider :-

Will it need to connect to an ElevateDB server or will it be able to operate
in direct file-access mode too (i.e. just tell it where the database files
are)?

Thanks.

It does both local and remote access, just like the VCL ElevateDB.

Thanks.

Hopefully (fingers and more crossed) there will be some kind of crossgrade
for people like myself who already have a high end product and need just the
provider.  Thanks.

The cross-upgrade special offer discount will be 20% for existing VCL
product customers.

Does the ADO.NET provider exist yet?  We're interested in ElevateDB as a JET replacement, but are having trouble muddling through the
documentation.  We want to use it in Visual Studio 2008 so we can see if it's a good fit.

It's now available as a run-time provider only, and you can find a trial
version here:

http://www.elevatesoft.com/scripts/download.dll?action=downinfo&producttype=edbdactrial&version=1

However, the automated installation currently only works for the .Net 2.0
Framework and VS 2005.  I'm almost done with the design-time integration
into VS2005 and VS2008/Net 3.0+, and both will be supported in the next
minor EDB release.
