Accessing ElevatDB with Business Object Frameworks |

gripsware gripsware datentechnik gmbh | We think about to do our next releases in .NET language. So I´m looking now for components that I can use with Visual C# (e.g. RibbonBar controls, Grids etc.). Now I see on the Telerik site and Component One Site, that they have Business Object Framework components to access several databases. I like that idea to split the datalayer and business object away from user interface. And as I´m a lazy guy I prefer to use tested and appoved components for that.
As I´m a newbie in .NET things I don´t understand really, if it is possible to attach each Database to such components (Telerik - OpenAccess, C1 - DataObjects) or do it work only with some Databases. When you look on the Telerik site, you will see that OpenAccess provides access to MS-SQL, Oracle, Firebird, Sybase, VistaDB etc. databases - but nothing about ElevateDB At the C1 site I don´t see anything about the databases which are working together with the DataObjects component. Do anybody here using such products, or can tell me if it is possible to connect ElevatDB with that components? Thanks Michael |

The real issue, however, is how such products interrogate system information in the target database. I would simply send them an email and ask them if they support any generic ADO.NET data provider, or if there are special layers in their code for each data provider. -- Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |

Because I do not really know how I can ask it, and I´m quite sure that I will not really understand what they answer. Best regards Michael |

<< Do anybody here using such products, or can tell me if it is possible to connect ElevatDB with that components? >> Telerik responded to me, and this is what they indicated: "I have heard back from our technical support specialist, who has informed me that it is not yet possible to use any ADO driver with OpenAccess. We are expanding the number of databases we support, with sqlite being next on the list. I would like to suggest that you submit a request into PITS (our Public Issue Tracking System) for this request: http://www.telerik.com/support/pits.aspx This system allows you to submit any product requests you may have directly to our developers. The community can then vote on this to show their support for your request. Our PITS system also provides you with updates on the progress of your request." I would suggest submitting a request for ElevateDB support, and hopefully they will contact us about adding it. -- Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |
