I am using 2.03 b 19 DAC.   When I install this on windows XP and Vista, the ODBC driver is installed.  (The entry ElevateDB 2 ODBC Driver is created in reg:\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC\ODBCINST.INI).

However, this not occurring on Windows 7 systems.  Users have administrator rights.

Does someone have a suggestion on what may be the problem?

Thank you.

Richard,

Are the Windows 7 machines using a 64-bit version of Windows 7 ?  If so,
then the driver registry entries will be created in:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\ODBC\ODBCINST.INI).

Thank you Tim.  It is a 64 bit version of Windows 7 and the registry entry for Elevate DB is present in:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\ODBC\ODBCINST.INI

However, I cannot define a new data source in the ODBC Administrator like I can in Windows XP and Vista.  I wish to create a new System Data Source.  The entry ElevateDB 2 ODBC Driver is missing from the list of available drivers.

I could manually enter entries for the ElevateDB Data Source into

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\ODBC\ODBC.INI

But there must be something that I am missing?

You need to use the 32bit version of the ODBC Admin application.   To do
this, click the Start button, and enter
"%windir%\SysWoW64\Odbcad32.exe" in the command line (with or
without the quotes) and press enter.  When you see the ODBC Admin, you will
be working with the 32bit version and should see the EDB driver as one of
the options.

Wonderful.  Thank you Terry.  I would have never worked that out for myself.

Just so you know - this is covered in the EDB FAQ:
