Client connect to server through VPN? |

Michael Fullerton | I have a customer trying to run the client software on a laptop by
connecting to a remote server through a VPN. So the EDBServer is running on one of the remote machines but when the client software is run on his laptop it does not function properly. He claims it appears to connect and send/receive data but the login dialog of my software does not appear. He says this is the only software that does not function using the VPN. Am I not doing something right or is this sort of thing not possible with EDB? |

Raul Team Elevate | It definitely can work - EDB is pure TCP so all you need to make sure is
that you can actually route to the remote server over VPN tunnel and of course the ports you use are not blocked. Without additional information it's hard to suggest anything beyond standard networking and VPN troubleshooting: - make sure the traffic is actually routed thru VPN tunnel when accessing the host running EDB server (this is generally automatic but if your server for example is on another LAN subnet the vpn client may need need to be configured to route the traffic) - make sure traffic is not actually blocked (VPN setups may incorporate firewall functionality where hosts and/or ports need to be open) - make sure your host running EDB server routes the responses back to vpn terminating device (especially if it's different than default gateway) Raul On 4/15/2012 8:32 PM, Michael Fullerton wrote: > I have a customer trying to run the client software on a laptop by > connecting to a remote server through a VPN.
