Interestingly this is not working for me - using Thunderbird though. Port 119 times out. SSL on 563 gives no error and seems to work but i'm not seeing new messages and more interestingly it fails to even retrieve a list of available newsgroups (i unsubscribed from a NG and now i can't even re-subscribe since it won't show it ). Thanks for the info - I'm either going to have to resurrect my D6 installation to update my homebrew email/news client or start using Xana Special ports and SSL were not options I built in for news - thankfully I did for emails. Roy Lambert |

Not my area of expertise. o( I assume your login credentials are correct. <shrug> |

Tried Xananews and that one can retrieve everything just fine. Raul |

Looks like i have to eat my words - they did upgrade the back-end server and database on Aug 23rd and the forums appear to be operational and way faster. They did kill (not enable?) plain text NNTP access and for some reason Thunderbird is not compatible with TLS option but at least using Xananews i don't have to use the web interface. Raul |

Actually it's a weak server TLS issue and somebody has actually posted steps to get Thunderbird working for anybody interested : https://forums.embarcadero.com/thread.jspa?threadID=117291&tstart=0 Raul |

Thank you for the information - I reloaded my D6 VM, brought mind back into sync with software I hadn't touched for nearly a decade, found all the places I had to alter from the standard NNTP of 119 and I'm in business until the next time they do something weird. Embarcadero are so good (for some value of good) at sending out marketing messages I do wish they'd add something like this to them Roy Lambert |
