1. That was one of the things mentioned in the CG ngs. Someone did some timings and there was essentially no difference (may have been biased timings - I do not remember).

2. Even if there was a difference my CPU has so much time on its hands I think it would be good to give it something to do Smile

Roy,

I would have to say that I'm in exactly the same position as yourself...
a few more miles on the clock perhaps.

I just woke up one morning and said "what the heck" and purchased
XE... no serious logic behind it at all other than I thought I'd
like the latest Smilethat and maybe my contribution to make sure
Delphi sticks around for a while!

I finally decided not to bother. If I ever need to upgrade I'll start looking at Lazarus or other free stuff.

No offense to the Lazarus and FP teams, but they aren't really in the same
class as the Delphi compiler/IDE.  They're good, but not that good, at least
not yet.

Yeah but by the time I'm bothered about moving on they might be Smiley

Seriously I don't know what percentage of the IDE I currently use but I suspect its "sub-optimal"

I'm the same way, but as long as I can turn stuff off and keep it out of my
way, I'm good.
