Are there any tutorials that exist for creating external modules? Also, I can use Visual Studio to create them, correct?

There are template projects installed into the Delphi IDE, provided that you
selected that option during the installation of ElevateDB.  You can access
them via:

File/New/Other/ElevateDB

You *can* use VS to create them, but you'll have to write everything from
scratch, so I wouldn't recommend it.
