How about selecting a few filters we are all going to be interested in and have a speed challenge a la fastcode project?

Not a bad idea.  I will see what I can do.

OK my suggestion for filters are:

1.    HTML
2.    RTF
3.    DOC

That should cover 90+% of our needs.

As for rules I'd like to propose the following

1.    No commercial components or libraries allowed
2.    Pointers and assembly are permitted but discouraged
3.    Visual components are allowed but discouraged
4.    Any freeware components or libraries must be declared in a comment at the top of the unit which must contain the name, licence and current source of the component or library.

I would say that all of the major text formats would be cool, but you are
going to have a tough time getting at a PDF without a 3rd party library.

If you think that's bad what about .doc? My fallback position there is to but MSWordDocument (I think its called) from Mike Shkolnik
