<< Is there a list somewhere showing which operations require exclusive access? >> Any operation that modifies the metadata of an object (including its name) requires exclusive access to that object, or its container in the case of columns, constraints, indexes, or triggers. So, any CREATE, ALTER, DROP, or RENAME will require exclusive access. With databases, one additional operation, RESTORE DATABASE, requires exclusive access to the database if you choose to restore the database catalog also. -- Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |

Tim Young [Elevate Software] Elevate Software, Inc. timyoung@elevatesoft.com | Roy,
<< How about IMPORT & EXPORT? >> No - export uses a read-lock for consistency, and import uses an internal transaction lock. -- Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |
