Max concurrent Sessions Reached on Demo Version |

Jeff Newlin Lightspeed | Hello
I'm trying out the demo version of ElevateDB and I'm seeing something unexpected. I know the number of sessions is limited on the demo version. I am testing a client/server database. I am able to start 3 session on my local machine - the same machine that is running the ElevateDB Server. I'm also able to start 3 sessions on my remote machine. But it won't let me start a session on the local machine and then start one on the remote machine (two sessoins toal). It immediately tells me "the maximum number of concurrent session (5) has been reached. But for sure it limits me to 3. Some of my systems are going to want to run this way with one client working on the same computer the server is installed on and others on remote machines. Any chance I'm missing something silly in this? Works great on what I can do by the way! Thank you Jeff |

<< But it won't let me start a session on the local machine and then start one on the remote machine (two sessoins toal). It immediately tells me "the maximum number of concurrent session (5) has been reached. But for sure it limits me to 3. >> If you have the EDB Server running, then there are two "hidden" sessions that are created by the server to handle logging system-wide events and for executing scheduled jobs. The "internal" max is calculated as the number of user sessions permitted (3) plus the number of internal "hidden" sessions permitted (2), or 5. << Some of my systems are going to want to run this way with one client working on the same computer the server is installed on and others on remote machines. >> The full CS versions of EDB don't have these very low session restrictions (max 4096 sessions), so they aren't affected by this. -- Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |
