Hershcu Sorin | Hello
I want to run the server as a service. I have run the command using the edbsrvr.exe file or the edbcmd.exe file? Thanks Sorin |

Jan Ferguson Data Software Solutions, Inc. Team Elevate | Sorin,
You will install EDB as a service by using the edbsrvr.exe file. There are several parameters to include in order to install/run it as a service. Install the ElevateDB Server as a Windows service: edbsrvr.exe /install Uninstall the ElevateDB Server as a Windows service: edbsrvr.exe /uninstall No interactaction with the desktop: edbsrvr.exe /install /nointeract Suppress the "Service Installed" dialog box: edbsrvr.exe /install /silent -- Jan Ferguson [Team Elevate] Sorin H wrote: > I want to run the server as a service. > I have run the command using the edbsrvr.exe file or the edbcmd.exe > file? |

Hershcu Sorin | Thanks Jan
On the support I found: " ElevateDB comes with a GUI ElevateDB Server called edbsrvr.exe and a command-line ElevateDB Server called edbcmd.exe. The edbsrvr GUI ElevateDB Server can be run as a normal application in Windows or as a Windows service. If running the ElevateDB Server as a normal application there is nothing else to do besides start up the ElevateDB Server from the directory in which ElevateDB was installed. You can find the GUI ElevateDB Server in the \servers\edbsrvr sub-directory under the main installation directory, and the command-line ElevateDB Server in the \servers\edbcmd sub-directory under the main installation directory. I have never really found a use for it personally (it's not like there is a 32-bit DOS around) and running the gui version in windows is as simple in IMHO. In theory if you wanted to create your own custom server with minimal functionality you could use the source code as starting point but again the gui server is likely a better choice for that. The only (theoretical) option i can think of is using the command-live version as base and adding some basic sql support so you can just type the commands in at runtime into server console but it's of dubious value.
