I've just started using a PHP framework called Codeigniter, which has it's own database layer to handle things like SQL injections.

Can the basic ElevateDB PHP extension work within that, or any other PHP framework, or will I need to write my own PHP library (which with Codeigniter is not too difficult)

From what I can tell, you'll have to write an outer layer for CodeIgniter
that calls the ElevateDB PHP API as necessary.  IOW, it will require a
translation layer.  If you do decide to do so, please let me know
(timyoung@elevatesoft.com).
