Lost catalog file, is it possible to get the database working again? |

IQA | Hi Guys & Gals,
If a catalog has been deleted, is it possible to rebuild to get the tables and data back? Also if I get the following message when accessing a previous versions database. Field 'Attributes' not found and I can't see any tables. Thanks, Phil. |

>If a catalog has been deleted, is it possible to rebuild to get the tables and data back? Only manually. If you're lucky and the .old version of the catalog still exists you can rename it (remove the .old) but that's as far as it goes. Roy Lambert [Team Elevate] |

Roy Lambert [Team Elevate] Hi Roy, When you say manually, does that mean just redefining the table names OR do I need to redefine all fields exactly as they where before? Cheers, Phil |

I'm getting errors like field 'Attributes' not found and Field 'ErrorCode' not found when trying to view the tables using ElevateDB Manager. Is this a version problem? |

>When you say manually, does that mean just redefining the table names OR do I need to redefine all fields exactly as they where before? Everything. ElevateDB is a catalog based system so all the metadata is stored in the catalog unlike DBISAM where it was stored in a table header. Roy Lambert [Team Elevate] |

IQA | Hi Roy,
I have managed to recover the .EDBCat file... Is there a way I can at least rebuild the tables / structures from this? It wont pick up the tables and complains of error #100 but the data is not important, I just need the tables / structures rebuilt. Cheers, Phil. |

It depends on what the error refers to. Can you post the exact message? Roy Lambert [Team Elevate] |

IQA | ALL GOOD, I found what the problem was... I recently downloaded the latest additional utilities (V2.05) and the latest version of the source which was only (V2.03) as my support plan had run out, V2.05 wasn't available.
So I didn't realise I could end up with conflicting versions that ended causing alot of errors. I'm so use to logging in and downloading the latest versions of Source and Additional utilities, it caught me off guard. Thanks |

New minor versions will usually include some changes to the catalog format and/or the catalog tables. -- Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |
