John Hay	Roy > Yorkshire Exactly! In my youth I wrote a bit of communication software to do sales reporting from cash registers. I hard coded the VAT % (stupid I know). When the powers that be decided to increase the VAT I offered an upgrade (diskette in post) for a fiver which parameterised the rate and added a few improvements. Everyone bought it apart from my Yorkshire reseller who used a hex editor to change the relevant bytes in the exe to make the extraction at the new rate! Being a Scot, I appreciated the virtue John
