Problem migrating NexusDB database |
Tue, Jul 26 2011 8:44 AM | Permanent Link |
JC Boggio | Hello,
I'm evaluating ElevateDB to switch from NexusDB. I opened the "Default" (local) session located in K:\Dev\Data\ElevateDB\testsage Then I create the migrators. Then created a database "Sage" located in K:\Dev\Data\ElevateDB\testsage\Sage Now I want to migrate data. So I fire up "Migrate database", choose the "NexusDB" migrator and set "DatabasePath" to the directory containing the data "K:\Dev\Data\NexusDB\Sage\Atal" then click "set parameter value". Problem is, when I click OK I get : "ElevateDB Error #202 An error occurred with the module edbmigratendb (Execution Error: NexusDB: <unnamed TnxSession instance>: Unknown database. [$271E/10014])". What am I doing wrong ? Is it correct that I have to deal with the files directly rather than connect to an existing NexusDB server and pump out the data from there ? Thanks for your help, JC |

Adam Brett Orixa Systems | Dear JC,
Really sorry you have had no responses here, I think it is because of a lack of experience migrating Nexus DBs, I personally have no experience of this at all, sorry. I would recommend that you write direct to TimYoung@ElevateSoft.com, on a serious problem like this he ought to deal with it direct (I hope Tim doesn't mind me making this suggestion!) ... it may well be a very straightforward problem. << I would recommend that you write direct to TimYoung@ElevateSoft.com, on a serious problem like this he ought to deal with it direct (I hope Tim doesn't mind me making this suggestion!) ... it may well be a very straightforward problem. >> No, not at all. I'm said here many times - I'm only checking in occasionally here lately, so if you have a pressing problem, please email support directly to get an immediate response. Having said that, I'll hopefully be back here more often soon. I'm finally getting close to being done with the new product that I've been working on, and will have some information on that available soon. -- Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |

Well as he has told us he is working on something he can't have signed an NDA, so it can't be anything to do with XE2. That only leaves his new query language EEQL (Elevate Effortless Query Language). I hear that it supports statements such as 'SELECT Latte, Sugar FROM Costa ORDER BY 11am'. This fires off a sub-second Internet search for the server of the nearest Costa, places the order and returns the item by the specified time. I thought you knew about this :/ |

Instead of spitting out error messages, Tim materialises right beside you to help with the debugging. But watch out, he also carries a tightly rolled newspaper in case he deems it necessary to beat you about the head! |

Tim Young [Elevate Software] Elevate Software, Inc. timyoung@elevatesoft.com | Adam,
<< .. always such a tease, we want to know what it is! >> It's a temporary departure from the database side of things, but I think everyone will find it very useful, and it will serve to make Elevate Software, as a company in general, much stronger. There's some information up on the web site now - just click on the banner on the home page. I also posted a blog entry here: http://www.elevatesoft.com/blog?action=view&id=elevate_web_builder_information I'll be adding in sections shortly on the support forums for the new product, but feel free to use the comments section for that blog entry for any comments or questions. -- Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |
