Thread Backing UP elevate databases

We will be using Semantec Backup Exec 2010 to perform our nightly backups. It is our understanding that in order for databases to be backed up while open that they need to be "VSS aware" so my question: Is Elevatedb 4.0 VSS aware? If not, how are open database files backed up?

Pretty sure it's now VSS aware. However EDB includes a built-in backup command so best way would be to use it to make a native backup and then backup the resulting backup file (store folder) in your nightly backups.

Backup  documentation:

Suggest you also backup the catalog as part of backup.

Sorry - meant it's NOT VSS aware.

Thanks for getting back so quickly. I'm new to EDB, so does the built-in backup provided by EDB, backup open files?

Yes, it does.  It uses read locks to ensure that the database tables are
consistent and reflect a consistent snapshot view of the database.
