Adam Brett Orixa Systems | Can I just confirm that the files with the "OLD" extension in the database folder can be safely deleted from the folder without affecting the database?

I'll confirm it. My own apps optimasation/repair code deletes them after the process is finished and its still running Roy Lambert [Team Elevate] |

Adam Brett Orixa Systems | Thanks Roy ... I kind of figured that must be the case, but I am still a bit nervous around some EDB files & structures.
... I'll write a little loop to dispose of these files from time to time, as they are taking up gigs of space on my servers. I understand that they can be used to rebuild a prior version of a database after an UPDATE or ALTER process ... It might be useful to be able to turn off their creation in some cases?? |

<< It might be useful to be able to turn off their creation in some cases?? >> They're used for backup purposes, so I like to keep them around even if the developer says that they don't want them (mainly, because I'm the one that gets the panicked email from the developer after the customer calls them about accidentally deleting all of the data). However, take comfort in knowing that they will definitely go away once EDB 3 is completed. Or, should I say, you won't "see" them anymore. -- Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |
