Thread Windows XP - Problem with elevatedb #401

Hello! I'm having a problem with ElevateDB Unicode version 2.08 Build 3. The problem only happens on Windows XP. On more recent versions of windows everything works fine.
On windows XP I'm getting the error #401, it seems to be related with relative path on the session or database... Sometimes when elevatedb makes a backup the error occurs..

Thank you!

Hello, please see the attached image with complete error message.
I have lots of clients complaining about that, the application locks after that error.

The error: ElevateDB Error #401 The path specified for the database ******* does not exist (aaaa\bbbb)

Antonio,

Are you using Client/Server or File sharing?
You said it happens when backups are made, how are the backups being made, is there a JOB doing the backups automatically or what?

Hello Fernando!

When the program closes it makes a backup using an SQL query. That backup is local, there is a local store witch the program uses to make that backup. We use that method for about 2 years now, and it works very well, but on this version we changed elevateDB to a newer version and Unicode version.
As I said, this only happens on Windows XP. And usually after saving other files (not using elevateDB or any reconnection).
Example: On a preview of a document, we save a .pdf copy of it. Then we exit the program, bang, error on elevateDB #401. This exact same procedure with same data on windows 7, no problems at all.

Antonio,

And the database, is it in the same computer or in a shared folder in another computer?
That path 'DADOS\HOR_12-23', where is that folder located?

Hello!

The path 'DADOS\HOR_12-23' is local too. On windows 7 and vista, when a folder like that is used, ElevateDB uses it as a relative path, if the program is installed on 'C:\Program Files\mySoftware\' then ElevateDB adds the rest of the path, and uses 'C:\Program Files\mySoftware\DADOS\HOR_12-23'. Maybe a problem with that? It seams like ElevateDB on windows XP, in some cases, is trying to use the relative path directly, without adding the program path...

Thank you!

Antonio,

Yes, that what I was thinking but I can't reproduce it here...
I've just tried it with Unicode EDB Manager on a Xp machine and it's just working fine here... even on Xp, relative paths are being interpreted relatively to the location of the configuration file, as expected.
You also said it only happens sometimes, after saving other files... what do you mean, is it your application that is saving other files ?

Btw, are you in Portugal? You can email me if you prefer to write in Portuguese.

Yes, I'm Portuguese. Give me your email, it's easier to report on our own language!
