Thread Server software question

Hi,

We have used elevate db server on our 32 bit windows 2003 server so far. But, now we are going to use a new 64 bit 2008 server.

Is it better to use the 64 bit server software version on our new 64 bit server?
Client software will still be 32 bit, and the database etc is all created with the 32 bit versions on the old server machine(wich we are going to copy all the data files from).

Thanks for clearing this up for me!

Dario,

64bit server in theory can allocate more memory so if you feel your
server is memory bound then use 64bit. Otherwise you're likely not to
notice much difference. You can mix 32bit client and 64 bit server.

Otherwise 32bit server will run just fine and since that is what you've
been using i'd suggest you stick with it for now.

I would keep using same version you do on old server (so 32bit server)
so that the only change is server and then once everything is stable and
running well you can switch over to 64 (assuming it's something you'd
want to do)
