Thread How to obtain ODBC driver?
Fri, Jan 25 2013 9:03 AMPermanent Link

Joe Mainusch

Hello all,

a few days ago I licencesed ElevateDB C/S VCL. In my opinion with the licence there should be an ODBC driver for ElevateDB.

I installed the VCL components and also the ADD components (DB Manager, ...), but in the Windows 7 ODBC manager there is no ElevateDB ODBC driver available. I am aware with the problem with Win 7 64 Bit and the must use of 32 Bit ODBC manager - but I use a Windows 7 32 Bit version.

I am just migrating another database to ElevateDB and want to transfer data via ODBC to ElevateDB.

On the download web site only a trial version (DAC) is available.

Am I completely wrong that the ODBC is included in an official licence - or where can I get the ODCB driver? As I remember, during my evaluating phase on a temporary PC when the trial DAC is installed also trial versions of the ElevateDB server are installed - and I don't want to corrupt my fine running system.

Any advice would be fine.
Thank you
Joe

You may have ordered the wrong licence. VCL and DAC are different licences. The DAC options are here

If you think you did buy the wrong one contact Sam using

samyoung  at elevatesoft.com

she looks after things like that.

Ohhhhh - thank you, Roy.

I didn't notice that - the DAC can only be selected on the VisualStudio site...

Joe,

Yes, the ODBC driver/.NET data provider is sold/licensed separately.  The
reason for this is that we are trying to keep the cost down for each
platform/development environment and not force customers to pay for client
options that they'll never use.  However, we do provide a CROSS special
offer for all versions of ElevateDB that you can take advantage of and will
provide a 20% discount off the price of the DAC product.  The CROSS special
offer is available to anyone that owns an existing ElevateDB product (VCL,
DAC, PHP, etc.) and wants to purchase another ElevateDB product.

The different products are installed under different paths, so you won't
modify your existing VCL installation, including the servers.  The servers
for both will use the same configuration, but that's it.

If you have any other questions, please let me know.
