Just playing a bit to see how few ElevateDB components I need on a form. Started a new project, dropped a EDBQuery on it. Next added a session. Then opened another form from another project to see what I did there. Then, with that form still open, dropped an engine onto my new form. Not allowed cos there's one on the other form. Close the other form and drop an engine component on the new form. Tried to run it and get error.

What happens is that the engine is added to the .dfm but not the .pas. Trying to edit in doesn't work. I had to delete the engine. Save the form. Drop an engine on the form. Switch to view as text, copy the engine name from there and switch back to the .pas and paste it in.

There's some serious interference going on here.

Just tried cutting and pasting the EDBEngine from one form to another in the same project with the same results.

If you're using BDS 2006 or greater, then it has something to do with the
IDE and design-time in these versions of Delphi.  It's really no matter
since I changed the way it works for the next release, so it should work
just fine in any version of Delphi after that.

Tim's next database system will be called ESPDB.   It will simply have the
features you
want before you even know to ask about or need.   Plus updates will have all
the fixes
for the problems you are just about to uncover...  before you realize its
broken.

The Expert edition will automatically code and/or fix your SQL statements
when you
bring up the editor too...

You joke, but I can't tell you how many times I've run into an issue here in
the process of investigating something else, only to have a customer report
the very same issue within an hour or so.  It's freaky, because at the time
I always ask myself "I wonder if anyone has seen this yet ?".   And some of
these issues are not general issues that anyone would see.
