Thread ElevateDB Manager Unicode how to delete a session
Sat, Aug 10 2013 11:15 PMPermanent Link

Peter Evans

I am getting the "Access is denied" error message when I try to delete a
session.

To step back a bit. I create a Config file, a database catalog, a table
in a folder. The folder is within ProgramData. This is done
programatically. I haven't migrated this from DBISAM. I set in the
session component :-

  username = Administrator
  password = EDBDefault

Everything visually appears to be created OK in the folder. (I exit Delphi)

I run ElevateDB Manager Unicode and set up a session pointing to that
folder. Yes I can see the table etc. (I exit the Manager)

I then can't run ElevateDB Manager Unicode without the error "Access is
denied".

Interestingly enough the focus with the Manager prior to exiting can be
on another session. There is no problem looking at that session but the
Manager is upset looking at the session on which there is no focus.

I found that by running the Manager as an administrator I do not get
this message.

1) Is it possible to output a more meaningful message?

2) Where is the manual for the ElevateDB Manager? (Probably somewhere
obvious...)

3) Where is the data shown in the ElevateDB Manager treeview held?
Because I may need to zap it.

On the basis I have no idea what's going on here, but suspect its something to do with Windows privileges, I can only offer help on two items

In Tim's head - is that obvious enough Smiley

It may emerge someday - we live in hope and anticipation. Generally speaking it works easily enough that a manual isn't a major priority.

Yes it has to do with Windows privileges.
