A brilliant idea for identifier lengths |

Roy Lambert NLH Associates Team Elevate | Whilst taking the dog for a walk in the forest I came up with a brilliant idea
<tongue in cheek ON> Let's ask Tim for a boolean flag - USEDESCRIPTIONS. It would default to false but if set to true then SQL statements would require you to type the full description for the identifier, in quotes, and it would lookup the actual id from thatand then construct the SQL that is run. It would then be possible to have identifiers up to 2GB in length. This would allow us to have table definitions in the catalog that exceeded the physical memory of the computer. <tongue in cheek OFF> Roy Lambert |
