I remember going to NEC for whatever the PC show was called (on business honest) and I was incredibly impressed by the Atari graphics. At least I think it was the Atari - bouncing rotating beachball. This was at the time when all PCs had monochrome character based screens.

The beachball was originally on the Amiga I think, and then everyone
did it on their computer to show it wasn't so special. That was Atari
ST days, but someone did it for the 800 too. I was a low-level
celebrity in those days. 8-)
