Lance Rasmussen CDE Software Team Elevate | Just because I love to give Tim a bad time and do it for almost every new IDE released....
It's been about a week since XE7 released to the general public. When will EDB be available for XE7? |

I would estimate mid-late October. Anybody with source code license should be able to compile one if really needed meanwhile. Raul |

The "new" features are basically BS as well - most of them look like library enhancements to me or something that does not warrant as new version. This should have been XE6 Service Pack. > so why are EMB expecting us to shell out $$$ for a new version?? We do use delphi commercially so the cost is not a major issue (we'd pay annually for any product). For occasional use i think delphi has become prohibitively expensive compared with other choices. I don't use delphi for personal projects anymore not have for a while. However the problem for us is that switching delphi versions is a lot of work and since we can't get bug-fixes for whatever version we are moving to (fixes would always be on the next product) we usually do an upgrade every 5 years or so. It has been mostly web and mobile lately : - tried Javascript few times but mainly playing with EWB and waiting eagerly for EWB 2. - mobile side it's Eclipse (migrating to Android Studio) and XCode - rest of the time i try to pick something new to try and learn (python and node.js for example) but never seem to have enough time actually use it - meaning i need to do a proper project to get into it properly. Thanks for the info. >It has been mostly web and mobile lately : > >- tried Javascript few times but mainly playing with EWB and waiting >eagerly for EWB 2. > >- mobile side it's Eclipse (migrating to Android Studio) and XCode I had a look at Eclipse just after I bought my tablet, downloaded the Android SDK and tried to create a simple app. Decided that if I wanted to watch paint dry I'd go and paint something. Like me then. I learn better by getting my hands dirty rather than reading about it. Roy |
