Are there any differences between v2.16 and later versions for lazarus?
Currently testing using the latest release 1.2.6/fpc 2.64 on new install in both 32/64 bit

To test:
Drop a session/database/table/DBgrid on form design-time and connect (characterset ansi) with remote server in IDE.

Displays contents of records for 2.16

fails to display contents of records for 2.17/2.18
The field values don't appear to be returned, however  the contents of memo fields (table.fieldbyname(..).AsString) are.

Not using Lazarus version myself but looking at the general release
notes there does not appear to be anything that stands out so I'd
suggest you report this direct to support email
