Tim Young [Elevate Software] Elevate Software, Inc. timyoung@elevatesoft.com | Lance,
<< Thanks for the new IDE update, Tim. And bonus that the timing worked out well. I think this has been the quickest an EDB release has came since official launch. This may be the fastest I'll be able to compile my main apps in a new IDE. Sometimes I've had to wait 3-4 months by the time everybody got on board. >> Hopefully this will be the new norm with Embarcadero going back to yearly releases. The bi-yearly releases were fine from a "let's get updates out" standpoint, but they should have been done without a .dcu format change and not required new components from 3rd party vendors. It resulted in a bunch of new minor releases from vendors (including us) that didn't add much, if any, functionality. But, we *have* to increment the minor release because we can't throw such support into a new build. Plus, it caused our download/support pages to explode in terms of the number of versions to support, and it ballooned our automated testing/build times into double what they used to be. And, in the last year or so every new IDE/compiler started breaking the environment path limits on Windows, etc.... It was just a lot to keep up with every year in addition to the regular development/support workload, and was probably the main cause for the constant delays with 3rd party vendors.
