Hi.

Elevatedb 2.05.

I'm changing a Windows 2003 server to a Windows 2016 server, I install edbsrvr in service mode and I have two problems:

1º I don't see try icon, any solution?
2º I have database path with unc name like "\\Server\Myfolder...." and if I open database I get the error "ElevateDB Error #401 The path specified for the database XXXX does not exist \\Server\Myfolder..." when the path is correct. If I stop service and execute edbsrvr in program mode I don't get this error and works normally.

Thank's and regards

Which account is the service running under? Does it have permissions for the share? The default is system, and it cannot access any network resources, for security.

Account is administrator. What I don't understand is that if I run edbrsrvr in "program" mode all works normally, only fail when I run edbrsrvr in "service" mode.

Thanks.

Still sounds like permissions issue.

Is this server part of the domain or is it stand-alone?

For domain i know this fine as long as service runs under user account
with proper access on both side.

If server is stand-alone then is it possible that in "program" mode you
have windows explorer or such making the UNC path accessible
automatically and it works as a side-effect with edbsrvr ?

Try this - make sure the UNC path is not mapped in windows program mode
- goto command line and type "net use"
- if you see your share listed with UNC then use "net delete \\<unc
path>" (use the path as it's listed)
- does ebdsrvr still work under program mode ?

The service is running as administrator? Not a good idea generally, but let's go with it. Just be sure that it is set up in the services control and the password stored.

Also, where is the configuration for EWB server stored? Is that accessible to the service okay?

Anything in the Events log?

Raul, Matthew, thank's for your quick response.

Server is stand-alone and UNC path is not mapped, configuration is stored in the default folder and there is no problem with it. If I change path to "C:\...." there is no problem, then I think that must be a windows configuration problem but I don't know what.

Continue looking....

Francisco,

<< Elevatedb 2.05. >>

You should definitely consider updating to the latest at some point.  There are a *lot* of fixes between 2.05 and 2.27, as well as a ton of new features.
