Hi Team,
Aside from some configuration misunderstandings by myself, being resolved thanks to Tim, the initial implementation of
my converted projects has gone well and is in use by the Customer.  In Local mode.

Next week I will be focussing on Remote operation using EDBSrvr.  This is not an area I am overly familiar with at all.

To that end I need to know how to start EDBSrver on the Win 2008 R2 server when it starts/re-starts.

I am aware that it needs to start with the "/install" parameter but I don't know how to have it start with windows.

I have enabled the 'Interactive Services Detection' service to start Automatically.

I have had a play remoting into the server and starting EDBSrvr manually but when I try to access it from my Win 10
wkstn I get a Socket error. Smile Not concerned about this until I have EDBSrvr starting properly on the server.

   Any/all assistance/guidance appreciated.

Regards,
Ian

If you install it as a service then you can simply set startup type to
automatic and it starts with OS

No - that is to register it as a service so it shows up under services
manager.

To start it either use service manager or "net start edbsrvr"

Hi Team,
OK.  Got EDBSrvr installed as a service on the Server.
I can access the Databsae via EDBSrvr from the Apps whilst on the Server.
When I try to access EDBSrvr from the wkstn I still get the following error..

"ElevateDB Error #1100 A connection to the server at '192.168.1.111' cannot be established ('Socket error: A
connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established
connection failed because host has failed to respond. (10060), on API 'connect'')"

I have checked my AV, no issues.
   Thoughts ?

Regards,
Ian

Sorry, that should have said "Session Connected True"

Firewall blocking things would be my first guess.

Check that EBDServer is actually listening on the proper IP (and not on
localhost or such)

Normally i would say check your config and permissions and such but if
you're able to use C/S connection on server then that should be OK

Hi Raul,

Firewall was my first guess too.  I did turn it off to no avail.

I have edbsrvr set to listen to all IPs.  Listen on IP Address is blank, Authorized IP Addresses is *.  No Blocked IP
Addresses.

Ian

Hmmm.  My wkstn is a Win 10 PC.  I wonder if it is a Win 10 issue...
