My Pacific Customer has finally decided to upgrade all his Win XP Pcs on his network.  All 26 of them.  To Win  7 SP1.

I don't know which part of the Pacific your customer is located in but in Australia you can still buy Windows 7 if you want to.  I think in part this is due to the Australian Federal Government as many departments still use Windows 7.  I know of one Department that is still using XP in some areas!!

Their general policy is to always use one major version behind of most software, including operating systems.  I contracted to them for a long time and it was virtually impossible to get them to update to the latest version of Delphi, although some Departments were a bit more "progressive".  :- )    The thinking behind all of this was that the previous major version had most of the serious bugs resolved.

And in just about all cases they would never use Version 1.0.0.0 of a product.

I have found that a lot of businesses are also still using Windows 7.

I use 3 computers: Windows 10, Windows 7 and MacOS.  As an interesting aside, at many of the Embarcadero presentations I've been to the presenters have used MacBook Pros with Windows running in a virtual machine, so that they can code and compile in Windows and run the programs under MacOS.

Probably a good policy, but that would suggest Windows 8. 8-)

Windows 10 is actually a lot more reasonable with all the latest updates.

I know but they didn't trust Windows 8.  Smile

I didn't like Windows 10 at first but I like it now.

I didn't like W10 at first and I still don't.

I have the strange (at least to big tech) opinion that its my machine and I should decide when and what to update, when and what to install. I also feel it would be helpful to not keep moving options around or removing them
