I get this error every time I install a new version of EDB, but for the life of me I can't remember what I did last time to resolve this:

"Can't load package C:\Users\Public\Documents\Embarcadero\Studio\19.0\Bpl\edbutilcompsdesign.bpl.
The specified module could not be found."

The file *edbutilcompsdesign.bpl* is definitely located in *C:\Users\Public\Documents\Embarcadero\Studio\19.0\Bpl\*, and that directory is in the path.

Any suggestions?

I've had to finght my way through these sort of problems every now and again. Unfortunately, like yourself, I rarely remember what I've done, and equally often have no idea.

I think it has something to do with having Tim's EDBManager components used in another package and being set to "always build" and the source path not being in the library.I had something similar and I went through and altered from "always build" to "never build" and that seemed to fix it.

Naturally, I could be remembering something totally different Smiley

Steve,

I've not had issues for a long time installing EDB but do remember having to uninstall the old version, but also going into Program Files and Bpl folders and deleting anything related to EDB then reinstalling

This just means that you need to re-compile the EDB utilities design-time package so that it's using the new EDB runtime package.  So, just open the edbutilcompsdesign.dpk package, uninstall it using the Project Manager, re-build it, and then install it again.  That should fix things up...

At this stage it isn't installed because I uninstalled it.  I re-built it fine but it fails when I try to install it.

Thanks for the suggestions Roy and Anthony.  Tried both of those but no luck.

I completely uninstalled EDB, then ran Agent Ransack to pick up any stragglers, which were promptly dismissed with extreme prejudice. Smile

Reinstalled EDB.  Same error message when I attempt to install (after building).

I rebuilt edbrun231rsdelphiwin3210t.dpk, then rebuilt edbutilcompsdesign.dpk, and it successfully installed this time.

Looking for to the next EDB version so I can forget all this all over again. Wink
