ElevateDB FireDAC Driver |

Adam Brett Orixa Systems | Is anyone in the EDB community interested in ElevateDB having a FireDAC driver?
I think it would be useful, as it means Delphi developers creating FMX Apps can work with EDB more easily. If it is of interest consider voting: https://quality.embarcadero.com/browse/RSP-36879 -- I can see other EDB folks use the Elevate Web Server as an alternative route to this type of solution, but that is quite a big step away from Delphi (I think?) I still think that a "native" FireDAC driver in Delphi would be useful. |

Terry Swiers | > If it is of interest consider voting: Done. I would have made my own driver long ago if Emb had made the specs available for FireDAC drivers. |

On the Quality Portal there is a note from Marco Cantu that "if Elevate want to create a driver they should get in touch with Embarcadero for details of how to do it" ... It may be a massive job (or it might not be!) I would be genuinely interested to see how complex it is. Perhaps we could ask for details? |

Lance Rasmussen CDE Software Team Elevate | Yep... Would love to see.

Adam Brett Orixa Systems | I had a dialogue with Tim about this, and he says that there will be components in the next Elevate Web Builder release to allow Delphi Apps to connect to an EWB Webserver Instance.
I think this is exciting. It does mean "native" connection to EDB via EWB. It is a bit of a separate path (ie not FireDAC, Embarcadero's in-house solution) but still seems a very good move. I still think that an EDB FireDAC driver is a good thing, even just to ensure that EDB is one of the Delphi Databases which all Delphi users see as an option when they start a project. A small thing, my own work so far on FMX has involved some use for SQLite as a local data-store. I REALLY hope whatever Tim is developing includes some sort of local storage on the Client side in FMX, as this makes life much easier, for me at least. |

Lance Rasmussen CDE Software Team Elevate | Having an EDB local data store would be awesome. Especially if encryption an option. Single file even better. I've had to result to SQLite data store myself.
