Problems when changing encryption password |

Mats Berggren | Hello
I use Elevatedb VCL Trial (Unicode) Version 1.05 with Delphi 2006. When I change the default encryption password from 'elevatesoft' to something else I can't open my catalog and my databases with the ElevateDB Manager (Unicode). Shouldn't it be possible to change the encryption password and still be able to use the ElevateDB Manager? As it is now you are forced to always keep the default encryption password if you want to use the ElevateDB Manager. This leads to poor security because the default encryption password is known by all ElevateDB users. Should it be like this? I would be very grateful if I could get an answer to this problem. Thank you in advance Mats Berggren |

No, what you are forced to do is recompile the manager utility with your new encryption password. That ensures that only copies of the utility created/issued by you will ever be able to access your tables. Anyone downloading the standard utilities from the Elevate web site will get nowhere.
