I have created an access database and linked in elevatedb tables using elevate odbc
when creating a view (query) by linking on 2 tables both same datatype varchar and size 20
I get the following when trying to run it
'Cannot join on memo, OLE or Hyperlink object'

The Access version is 2000

best wishes Ed.

Further,

When I examine the tables in access the varchars are brought in as memos (which explains
the error ) and date as text

In the future please post any ODBC questions in the elevatedb.connectivity
newsgroup.

As to your issue - I can't replicate that here with VARCHAR columns that are
20 characters or greater in length.   However, I'm using Access 2003, so the
issue may be one with respect to the version of Access or the version of Jet
that you're using.  Do you know which MDAC version you are using ?
