Unicode won't be available initially.  It is second on the list and I still
haven't determined which versions of Delphi will be supported with Unicode
due to the lack of proper support for certain requirements in older versions
of Delphi.

You could at least support Delphi 2006 first in order to test it ?

Thank you

Actually, the two that are guaranteed to support Unicode are BDS 2005 and
2006.  However, I still need to make all of the adjustments in our build
system to accomodate outputting two versions, ANSI and Unicode for these
versions.

Excellent! Can't wait for unicode build!

Michael,

Me too... It's the part of EDB that's most important to us, so you bet we want to see it
in a release as soon as possible. Actually, we were counting on seeing it from the very start!

Dan

I was hoping to do so, but the spotty WideString support in older Delphi
versions put a snag in some things, specifically how to do selective
ANSI/Unicode builds in our build system.  Our whole system is automated, as
you probably know, so any change like this requires a fairly significant
overhaul of the way we do the builds.

Just be aware that there are (severe) limitations in the VCL at this time.
Most can be worked around, but be sure to design your data access accordingly.

Start with Delphi 2006 which it has the most proper way
to handle Unicode stuff and then you can take your time
on the other builds. Smiley

(You can do it manually for the moment if you want)

I guess that only Delphi for Vista will introduce Fully
unicode Capable VCL ...

btw, i don't push you ... IF you want of course.
